Put simply, FoxyProxy automates the manual process of editing Firefox's Connection Settings dialog. Proxy server switching occurs based on the loading URL and the switching rules you define.

Quick proxy
Get IT into firefox!Quickproxy creates a statusbar button to turn the proxy on and off with a single click. This switches Firefox between the different proxy states that you have selected, which are configured through the Firefox preferences, and the type of proxy that is turned on/off is configured through the QuickProxy preferences window. This extension will not provide a proxy server for you.
There are no major features that will be added to this. It is designed to do only what it needs to to switch between a proxy and a normal connection.
I've submitted this extension to BabelZilla to get some localizations of the extension done. So far the support received has been great, and I'll be releasing the completed localizations with future versions.
I've received numerous comments on this that compare QuickProxy to other full fledged proxy management extensions, which QuickProxy is in no way meant to replace. This extension is designed to change the method that people need to use to swap between a pre-defined proxy, and a normal connection to the internet. It isn't designed (and will never be) to completely manage the proxy setup including which proxy server(s) are used, or when they are used. This is meant to complement Firefox's default proxy settings, and just allow users to turn this on or off without having to go through the preferences menu's of Firefox each time.

Environment Proxy
Get IT into firefox!Sets proxy settings from environment variables. This is mostly useful for Unix/Linux machines, where the proxy settings are set by environment variables like http_proxy, https_proxy etc. (Konqueror has a similar feature "Use preset proxy environment variables"). This makes it easier for administrators to control the proxy settings for several applications (gaim, konqueror, firefox, thunderbird etc.).
ATTENTION: Since Firefox 3.5 this add-on is no longer needed on Unix/Linux machines (see Bug 66057 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=66057). Just set your proxy settings to "Use System Settings" and you're set.

Firefox 3.5+ has the "private browsing" feature
To turn on Private Browsing mode click Tools->Start Private Browsing
When you are in private browsing mode browser will not remember
- Passwords
- Visited pages
- Form and search bar entries
- Cookies
- Cached files
To stop Private Browsing mode click Tools->Stop Private Browsing
P.S. there is also a Toogle Private Browsing plugin - Turn off all addons you have that may do requests to external sources (mail checkers, social sites clients)
